I gotta tell you, I was recently involved in the major power outages in Ma from the freak winter storm, and as I sat there on the couch I thought to myself that what would happen if we pemanently lost electricity for a month or more. We were only a week. The main thing was to keep warm, and I bet all the people that had wood burning stoves were pretty glad they had one. I bet people were cooking off of the stove to. Also what about your food, no refrigerator! I also see why people keep survival kits. I started looking for some and Survival Goods store was pretty cool to look at. I was in Wal-Mart and I saw generators being sold 3-4 at a time. The only thing with generators is that if you want them to power the house it has to be big enough wattage wise and hardwired by an electrician. But they are great to still have to power any heaters or the refigerator, all depending on the output of the generator. You can always check e-bay for any used ones if you cant afford a new one.
