Six Better Health Habits

Posted In: health

A healthy body requires a healthy lifestyle.

Over 90 percent of your daily actions run in your subconscious.

Fine tuning small, positive choices into built-in habits has tremendous power creating long-term health benefits.

Where to start: Build better health habits.

Six healthy habits to have:

1. Don’t skimp on protein.

2. Find sustainable change – changes you can make AND incorporate into your everyday life. Changes only can have an effect if we maintain them.

3. Get high-quality sleep. Eight to nine hours a night is a normal recommendation for adults, but the quality of your sleep is also just as important as the quantity.

4. Don’t waste your workout

5. Tie new behavior to a trigger

6. Commit to your workout

A Good Laugh

Posted In: humor

It’s Sunday. Take some time out today to have a laugh (or two, or three..)

HOW TO SHOWER LIKE A WOMAN:

Take off clothing and place it in sectioned laundry hamper according to lights and darks. Walk to bathroom wearing long robe. If you see husband along the way, cover up any exposed areas. Look at your womanly physique in the mirror — make mental note to do more sit-ups/leg-lifts, etc. Get …in the shower. Use wash cloth , long loofah, wide loofah and pumice stone……Wash your hair once with cucumber and sage shampoo with 43 added vitamins. Wash your hair again to make sure it’s clean. Condition your hair with grapefruit mint conditioner. Wash your face with crushed apricot facial scrub for 10 minutes until red. Wash entire rest of body with ginger nut and java cake body wash. Rinse conditioner off hair. Shave armpits and legs. Rinse off. Turn off shower. Squeegee off all wet surfaces in shower. Spray mold spots with Tilex. Get out of shower. Dry with towel the size of a small country. Wrap hair in super absorbent towel. Return to bedroom wearing long robe and towel on head. If you see husband along the way, cover up any exposed areas.

HOW TO SHOWER LIKE A MAN:

Take off clothes while sitting on the edge of the bed and leave them in a pile. Walk naked to the bathroom. If you see wife along the way, shake wiener at her making the woo-woo sound. Look at your manly physique in the mirror. Admire the size of your wiener and scratch your butt. Get in the shower. Wash your face. Wash your armpits. Blow your nose in your hands and let the water rinse them off. Fart and laugh at how loud it sounds in the shower. Spend majority of time washing privates and surrounding area. Wash your butt, leaving those coarse butt hairs stuck on the soap. Wash your hair. Make a Shampoo Mohawk. Pee. Rinse off and get out of shower. Partially dry off. Fail to notice the water on floor because curtain was hanging out of tub the whole time. Admire wiener size in mirror again. Leave shower curtain open, wet mat on floor, and light and fan on. Return to bedroom with towel around waist. If you pass wife, pull off towel, shake wiener at her and make the woo-woo sound again. Throw wet towel on bed.

A Fresh Start… Tips on Self Improvement

Posted In: brighter side of life

Kick off your personal growth effort and help motivate yourself to new levels of fulfillment and achievement.

Self Improvement (Part 1)If you’re committed to personal development and growth, you are always in search of effective ideas and strategies which will stimulate your growth. You are more than likely to also be looking for ways to ensure your personal growth as well, to help you achieve better and better results.

High hopes is a universal motto for optimism. The last few months however, have shown a lack of commitment and we appoligize for that. Don’t worry though, this website promises to be better than before with a new team behind it. Be on the lookout for more about that in the “About” section of the website. For now, let’s focus on the future.

self improvement

Self Improvement chronicled through daily journaling

If you read about the great achievers of history, you’ll find that most of them were voracious writers. Maintaining a daily journal allows you to interpret your thoughts and foster a sense of self-awareness which will provide you with the ability to reinvent yourself on a moment’s notice and help you to develop unshakable self-confidence.

Many do so in an actual book with pen and paper, and some do so online. I often will blog my most briliant ideas on the internet (being careful not to give away too much) to share my thoughts with others. Check out Live Journal or Thoughts to get started online with your own journal/blog (both of these sites offer privacy options)

Self Improvement using meditation

Probably the most often neglected form of self improvement tips is also one of, if not the most important.

Meditation is the most efficient means of reducing stress and cleansing your mind of the clutter that leads to unnecessary worry and anxiety. Daily meditation also helps to reduces your heart rate and regulate your digestion among a myriad of other health benefits.

It will help you sleep more restful and helps your body to recover faster from fatigue.

Basically, practicing meditation is the one thing which can make your goals regarding self improvement more effective.

Do You Expect To Win Every Time?

Those who achieve great things in life usually are not any more intelligent or capable than the average person. But they do have one difference, which many intelligent people have a difficult time accomplishing: they have an expectation to win, even before they have any idea how they’re going to do it.

Having expectations doesn’t require any knowledge of how those expectations are going to be, and if you start from a belief of resolute expectancy, the rest is just a matter of perseverance.

Writing Goals and Plans of Actions for Self Improvement

The habit of putting your clear and specific goals and plans of action for achieving those goals in a clearly written format is an absolute must if you want to accomplish anything. This is because writing down your goals clarifies them and that begins building an expectation of achieving them in your mind.

Also, having plans in writing gives you a specific set of actions to undertake each and every day, taking you towards the realization of your long-term goal.

self improvement tips

Be a Well Rounded Person

The course of personal development must be holistic in nature.

Every area of your life, the financial, the intellectual, the spiritual, the physical, the emotional, and the social affects every other area either directly or indirectly. If your relationships are out of whack, it’s going to affect your physical and your financial life. If your health, or physical is out of whack, it’s going to stunt your personal growth and make it more difficult for you to find the energy to achieve any of your goals.

So, regardless of what you’re trying to achieve, becoming and staying well-rounded is essential to living a balanced life and for building physical stamina, the emotional fortitude, the financial security and the social support system required to achieve great things.

The Power of Positive Affirmations

Positive affirmations have the power to alter your inner dialogue which can literally change your personality, your character, your actions and your life. For best results, write one positive affirmation for each of the key areas of your life (physical, intellectual, finances, spiritual, emotional and social) and make a commitment to rehearsing them out loud twice daily.

When We Teach, We Learn

This is as important as any of the seven self improvement tips. The more you teach the principles of personal growth to other people, the more apparent your understanding will be of them and the more effective you’ll be able to make them in your own life. Even if you have no one to teach, you can write about the principles of personal development in your journal and how they are helping you.

You can even start by writing a short paragraph in your journal about each of these simple self improvement tips. Write each one as if you were teaching the principles to someone else and your understanding of them will deepen.

This is one way starting a blog would also be benefitial as you can post information, essentially teaching others indirectly.

And so, I hope you were able to gain some insight from these self improvement tips – Moving forward the topics will be geared towards self improvement   with a general goal of inspiring you, the reader.

And remember to always…

make the most of today

Gastric Bypass surgery increases risk of alcoholism: try hypnosis first

Posted In: health

The  times are changing as we see hypnosis becoming more trusted and considered a alternative medicine.Hypnosis has had many successful stories when it comes to weight loss and recently Doctor Oz has mentioned using weight loss first before gastric bypass surgery.

Original Source: http://www.examiner.com/article/gastric-bypass-surgery-increases-risk-of-alcoholism-try-hypnosis-first

Monday ABC news and plenty of the other news sources reported on new research from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center that shows evidence of a link between gastric bypass surgery and increased alcoholism sufferers. The study looked at 2000 participant’s drinking habits before and after the surgery. Seven percent of the participants reported “alcohol use disorders prior to surgery” and 10.7 percent of patients experienced alcohol use disorder symptoms two years after the surgery.

This is a very big problem with obesity on the rise. The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric surgery estimates that “approximately 72 million people are obese in the United States and 200,000 people have bariatric surgery each year.”

In the actual surgery the stomach is reduced and the intestine is shortened, which limits the amount of food a person can eat but can also increase alcoholism because the alcohol passes through quickly and goes directly to the liver. The body processes this and the patient gets drunk very quickly and loses the buzz very quickly as well.

It makes sense; people who overeat can liken the symptoms of overeating to addiction. Transference of habitual behaviors happen at a high rate when a person who is susceptible to addiction tries to change a bad habit. Gastric Bypass forces its patients to change a behavior/habit with no real lifestyle change plan in place to offset the addiction.

There is an alternative. Hypnotherapists can use a noninvasive procedure known as gastric bypass or lap band hypnosis. It begins with hypnotizing a client into experiencing the surgery without ever going under the knife. They experience this surgery as a hypnotic suggestion. Then follow up sessions tackle any issues a client may be dealing with in their weight loss/management process. This procedure works for some and does not for others but for those it helps it could help to lower the side effects like “alcoholism” that patients experience from the real surgery.

Dr. Oz aired a special on this innovative hypnosis process last Friday. You can watch the segment at this link. If you are considering gastric bypass surgery take a look into hypnosis as an alternative before going under the knife. You may just find the answer to your weight management is in your mind not your stomach.

Editors note:

Going under the knife is very dangerous and to have surgery to loose weight can be considered extreme. Eat less move move Bruce Lee once said. As more and more hypnosis studies are presented trust worthy we could have a swing in people just over coming everything.
